A guide to our furry, feathered, and scaly friends

We know a lot of our guests are intrigued by the wonderful wildlife that visits our park and the surrounding area. To help you identify the creatures you see, we've sourced a fantastic local resource just for you!

This handy guide has been created to help you identify animal species commonly found in gardens across southwestern Australia, from Jurien Bay to Esperance—and that includes our beautiful Middleton Beach! The guide focuses on vertebrates (animals with a backbone), covering mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

What the guide includes:

  • A practical resource to help identify local wildlife.

  • Information on species you are likely to see in the local area.

What the guide does not include:

  • Fish, invertebrates, or marine species.

  • A complete list of all animals in the region.

This resource was produced as part of a research project by the University of Western Australia and Perth NRM, aiming to help people understand the benefits of wildlife-friendly gardening. We think it's a great tool for anyone visiting our park to identify the animals you may be lucky enough to see during your stay!

Download the guide here and start your own wildlife spotting adventure!
